MMU FOOTBALL PREPARATIONS

KU-vs-Strathmore-University-michezoafrikaThe Multimedia university football team is doing well with their preparations. According to their coach Mr. Michael Okoth, he see a great talent and a bright future of the group that now comprises of a majority from first years. “I know my boys, they are young but promising, i mean which coach can not be proud of this group? they are eager and willing to learn and that motivates me to apply new tactics,” said Michael Okoth.

The team yesterday, had a morning training session which lasted for  three hours. and most of the players looked sharp and we enjoying every session. The team, in the past years, has failed to establish themselves as a strong side, but now they want to do better.

According to Tom Momanyi, the team’s captain, they want to win next year’s KUSA trophy and they are determined to showcase what they can do.

The university, is also very supporting as they have gone out to employ the coach and to direct more funds to sports. this is a good thing and the team now can be able to compete for titles.

SAFARICOM SEVENS SERIES

Looking for some rugby action? The Safaricom 7s series happens every year from August to October. All the major national rugby teams; Kenya Harlequins, Mwamba RFC,  Nakuru RFC, KCB Rugby among others battle it out every week in a series of tournaments. Masaku 7s, Dala 7s, Kabeberi 7s, Drifwood 7s, Prinsloo 7s, Christie 7s, and the final being Safaricom 7s in September. The Safaricom Sevens is a tournament run by the Kenya Rugby Union. The competition is promoted as being Africa’s premier rugby sevens tournament drawing crowds of over 20,000 to the weekend event. It is unique in that it is contested by numerous national representative sides from Africa and beyond, by professional sevens outfits, professional and amateur club sides, invitational teams, universities and schools.

The Moi Sports Center Kasarani has been picked as the new home for the Safaricom Sevens rugby tournament which will go down on 20th to 22nd of September this year. Go and fun as you cheer your favorite team.
