RUGBY TRIUMPH

rugyFinaly the MMU RUgby has proved to be even stonger. Despite being rumbled 47-7 by Nondies in a hard-fought match played at JKUAT Karen on Saturday, the MMU Rugby  proved to be a stronger team among equals.  Nondies which is one of the professional teams in Kenya got a taste of MMU on the ongoing Franchise Cup dubbed. The Chairman Cup in a tight game that was characterized by poor handling, especially under high ball and unnecessary penalties which were unfortunately not capitalized upon by kickers on both sides. Nevertheless, MMU rugby captain Remmington Washialu said that it was as good improvement as compared to the way they played with Nakuru last weekend where they were beaten 96-0.

“This has given us a psychological motivation since we were able to net in seven goals against Nondies which a highly respected team in the country for their outstanding performance,” said Remmintong. MMU who are making their first appearance into the league are keen to gain more experience by playing the top most professional teams that are participating in the Franchise Cup like the Nondies, Nakuru among others. “The team might be beaten by these teams but the most important thing for us is to get exposed and gain that experience that will see us become one of the strongest teams in the country,” observes Remmington.  They vowed to continue with their training adding that they will not be discouraged by the two consecutive loses but are focused in doing their best in the fixtures which is yet to be confirmed in the course of the week.
